Youth Programs

Jason Fleishman Summer Camp
For many children with epilepsy, the most important thing is to meet other children with seizures so they realize they are not alone!

The Jason Fleishman Summer Camp will be on June 26-30, 2013 at the YMCA of the Rockies in beautiful Estes Park.  This 5-day overnight camp for youth ages 10–17 living with epilepsy provides an opportunity for youth to participate in fun and exciting activities like rock climbing, zip line, horseback riding, arts and crafts and more. To insure the safety of campers, we have a licensed medical team on-site at all times along with experienced counselors. The cost is $300 and scholarships are available.  Register online >

Highlights from 2012

Camp 2012 was another unforgettable and awesome camp where kids ages 10-17 who are living with epilepsy were able to come from around the state of Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, and New York to have fun in the mountains with friends.  Some of the highlights from the 2012 camp were horseback riding, zip-lining, rock climbing, arts/crafts, and the ropes courses. The campers learned how to Live Well with Epilepsy when special guest presenters taught them yoga, hip-hop dancing and how nutrition and diet can affect their seizures and overall health.  Neurologists from Children’s Hospital voluntarily facilitated 'Ask the Doc’ sessions where the campers were able to ask questions of the doctors about epilepsy.  Child Life Specialists voluntarily provided fun and experiential exercises for the children to address emotions and social issues related to living with epilepsy.  Of course there were plenty of opportunities to hang out, make friendship bracelets, roller skate, miniature golf and get teams together for kickball.
