Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado Gala
Saturday, March 14, 2015
United Club Level East at
Sports Authority Field at Mile High
6:00 pm - 11:30 pm
The Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado will present its annual fund raising Gala on Saturday, March 14th, 2015 on the United Club Level of Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. with hosted cocktails and a silent auction, followed by dinner, a live auction, and dancing.
Co-chairs Tracy Murray and Kate Petrocco are planning an evening centered on the gala’s new theme, Colors of the Mind. It will be a vibrant illustration of the complexities of epilepsy; celebrating innovation and creativity of those who are working to find a cure while honoring the courage of the more than 50,000 people in Colorado who live with epilepsy.
Colors of the Mind, is based on an original oil painting of the same name created by Misty Eddy of Castle Rock, whose 9-year-old son, Austin, was diagnosed with epilepsy two years ago. “Colors Of The Mind was my way of putting my voice for my son on canvas,” Misty said. “I look at this piece and see so many emotions through my son and myself. I see frustration, confusion and questions wrapped within the mind. Yet I see a strong determination, perseverance and finally, acceptance and peace.”
The event’s Honorary Co-Chairs are Virginia (Ginny) Grady and Tom Hammond. Ginny Grady is the Federal Public Defender for the Districts of Colorado and Wyoming, and she has epilepsy. She has devoted her entire legal career advocating for the rights of indigent defendants, many with misunderstood medical conditions, including epilepsy. Ginny and her husband, Tom Hammond, met as young lawyers in Colorado’s public defender system. As a person with epilepsy, Ginny’s role as an advocate for the unseen and the unheard naturally extends to all who must live with epilepsy.
Table sponsorships and individual tickets are available. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado and its programs including education and outreach efforts, support and referral services, new and integrative therapies, and the Jason Fleishman Summer Camp.
